Subject: Can Not Type in Message Text Field
Date Posted: 26 January 2005 at 7:11pm

One of my users belongs to one of the groups i have set up. I have given him permissions for everything on four other forums. He can view and post a topic. When he goes to the interface however, he is only able to type in the subject, change the fonts, change the size...but when he goes to the Message text field area, he is not able to write anything. His is unable to even get a cursor, hence he is unable to advance to the Post New Topic button. Any ideas?

In order for us to help you you need to post more details!

Such as....
  • What version of the forum are you using?
  • Are you getting any errors?
  • What browser and OS are you running?
  • Is this a free or paid web host?

  • I am using version 7.9
  • I personally am not getting errors on my end, but the user i had testing the forum is not able to type in the message field. But when i login using his username, it works fine for me.Across the board, our company uses IE 6.0., Windows 2000.
  • This is a free web forum we have downloaded. We have another forum, later version 7.51, that does not seem to experience any of these problems.

In addition, the user who was having problems informed me he is using XP and IE 6.0.

Any Updates on this matter? Can it be that i did not enable the moderator checkbox for this private group? Thanks.

We had the same problem once with some members who have been using anonymizers. Depending on the proxy they were using the message box appeared but was inaccessible.

Turning the anonymizer off solved the problem immediately.

The user who has the problem, get them to edit their profile and turn off the WYSIWYG Editor.
