I am getting regular CMOS errors when I turn on the PC. Has the battery just gone or do I need to replace the bios?

Go to CMOS setup and try and restore the default settings.  Got a CMOS FAQ here:

I did this but it is a bit annoying having to do it on every boot. Confused

Sounds like either a battery or the cmos rom itself is going belly-up. I'd try replacing the battery first.
