I tried uploading a file in the 2 online demos of RTE : V2 and V3 Beta1, following the same procedure, but with different results.

1. point to a file on the C-drive and  hit the upload button, being patientWink
2. hit the preview button and see the preview (a gif image)
3. OK, back to the textarea, see the underlined text (path)
4. submit form. Now it's a real hyperlink, clik on it and the gif-file is displayed in a new browserwindow in the V2 demo.
In the V3demo it says: The Page cannot be foundOuch

And why are these 3 characters "ZFE" added to my filename??

At my own site, things go different: after uploading the file and submitting the form, redisplaying the textarea shows an underlined text, but no clickable hyperlink!

First I thought it is the wrong pathname, because as you can see above, there is a map "RTE" inserted in the pathname. I think, I had nothing to do with that. I might be present at richtexteditor.org but sure it is not on my site. I edited the link and made it point to an existing file, but that makes no difference at all.
Any ideas?

The path problem of placing in the 'RTE' part in front of the link is my fault. I left in this when messing around with trying to be able to place the RTE files into their own RTE folder, but had to give up as there was to many path issues.

I'll fix this for the next version.

The characters placed in front of file names is to prevent files from being over written and is different for each upload component you use depending on if the upload component can rename files itself or not and other issues.

Not sure what's wrong with the hyperlink in your own RTE installation, does the HTML source code for the hyeprlink look correct? (both before and after submitting?)

OK, I see you solved the RTE-path problem already in the online demo version. It works fine now.Smile

The other thing is about  the not working Hyperlink on my own site.
A few things:
1. Other items  in the rte textarea do work!
2. Made a clean page, without any stylesheet etc., just the rte textarea updating a database field.
3. before and after submitting: the html looks allright.
4. All the time, moving the cursor over the hyperlink has no effect.
5. Copied and pasted the hyperlink code from the textarea to some other cell in the page. On that place, it worked Confused

Could there by any strange behavour of hyperlinks in textareas??
(problem occurs in IE and Netscape)
