Hi,
I've been having a few minor issues with the forum and would appreciate some assistance...

First off, i understand from other posts on this issue that the best way to stop a user using the forum is to set their status to inactive rather than delete them. However, there's this user who seems to be able to make posts even though i had set his status to inactive...has anyone else experienced this?

A few times users cannot login even when using the right password...i often ask them to delete cookies which seems to solve the problem. Is there any other fix for this?

Lastly, i've noticed a few times that Firefox browser doesn't automatically rediret you back to the forum after logging on...has anyone else experienced this? Any fix?

Your responses are appreciated...

Many thanks!

If a user is inactive then they should not be able to post, check that Guest posting is not enabled and that the account is not be reactivated by someone.

The cookie issue is a problem with IE's cookie cache becoming corrupted and is a browser bug, that hopefully MS will one day sort out, but going by the socking state of IE I doubt it.

I've not heard of the problem you mention with Firefox, I use it as my default browser for over a year now and have never had the problem you mention.

See http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=13528 -  and also http://forums.webwiz.net/forum_posts.asp?TID=12099&get=last#67421 - .

When making a member inactive, change the e-mail address so that they cannot re-activate the account themselves.

Thanks for the tip guys!! I also created a banned group with no permissions which i will add users to! I saw that tip somewhere else on this forum...not much hassle, makes sense and extra guard!

The problem i mentioned with Firefox is intermittent and probably machine related.

Thanks Wink

Actually if you're going to create a special group, make sure it's a non-lader group (can you guess how i found out Ermm?)

You may want to call it something besides banned and it will show below the members name in all his/her posts!
