As far as I can see a member can only belong to one member group. Is there any plans to change this?

We operate a number of private squadrons for online fighter groups. Quite correctly they wish to limit access to their own forum members. This works fine when a member is only limited to one squad but fails if they need access to more than one forum.

The other forum software I have had experience with (snitz and dcscripts) does things slightly differently in that you assign a member rights in the forum not a member group.

This also applies in my particular case for those with moderator functions, we have a mix of moderators who look after particular forum areas so again a group approach when a member can only belong to one group does not work very well.

Or am I missing something?

Cheers
Neil

indeed forum permissions for individual users would be nice also...

sq 1
sq 2
sq 3
..
..
sq 45

and then:

sq1&2
sq1&3

If jou need every combination this is not the solutition.

Is you needs some combinations it will do.

Its not a question of wishing - its a question on asking if the functionality of other forums will be included, if there are plans to include or if there is an acceptable work around.

If there isnt a solution and its a fundemental requirement for it to be there to replace the functionality of a current forum then fair enough I will not spend any more time looking at this seemingly very good product.

Making the forum so you can set individual forum permisisons for individual members would not only require allot of coding, slow the forum down serverly, but also make it very complicated to setup and so will not be a feature.

Thanks for your response. Most of it could probably be sold by allowing a member to belong to multiple groups then the forum code/checking would essentially remain the same.

I'm afraid it's not something that will be added, maybe Snitz would be a better option for you.
