I forgot my admin password and couldn't find a way of changing it, I then downloaded a new web wiz forum after deleting the old one, however it still takes up my old password, is there any way that  I can still access the forum? I'm using an Access 2000 db.

The password is 160bit one way encrypted before being stored in the database and therefore can not be recovered.

However, if you have email features enabled and a valid email address entered for the admin account you can use the forgotten password feature to get a new password emailed to you.

If you don't have email notification enabled then you will need to edit the database by hand in MS Access using the following instructions:-
  1. Open the table 'tblAuthor'
  2. Find record number 1, this will be the admin account
  3. Enter 'A85B3E67CFA695D711570FB9822C0CF82871903B' into the Password field
  4. Enter '72964E7' into the Salt field
  5. Save the database
This will now set the password back to the default 'letmein' password that originally came with the forum

This means that your Access database has become coruupted.

You need to download and open the database in MS Access and choose 'compact and repair database' from the tools menu.
