Hi

I am provided with a rather large Access mdb (180MB+) every 2 hours and have an automated job in SQL Server which imports and processes the data from the mdb.
The problem that I have from time to time is that the mdb is incomplete or corrupt, yet SQL still manages to read what data there is (sometimes).
My question is - Is it possibly to somehow verify that the mdb is complete and in tact? The filesize does vary all the time (between 180 and 200 MB), so filesize checking wouldn't be the best option.

Any Ideas?

Thanks
Gary

I use a very similar process in an DTS task. I basically wrote a small VB6 app that tries to repair the Database (basic Compact Repair methods) and if it fails I throw an exception so DTS recognizes it as a failure. This I have integrated into my DTS to not continue if it happens like so:
Hope that helps

Cool - all I have to do now is figure out how to create the VB app Embarrassed

Having said that, it'll be interesting to see how long the repair task will take considering the size of the mdb.

I rewrote the app in .net as I don't have the vbsource anymore, you can download it here
(Keep the files in the zip together)
