OK. Maybe I am a dummy. I am used to MySQL/php forum installations that are very verbose when something goes wrong with an installation. I do not like seeing a blank page which gives me no clue what is wrong.

The /admin/SQL_server_connection.asp is configured properly. The database prefix is entered in both msSQL_server_setup.asp and in /admin/common.asp. There is absolutely no reason for the installation to not continue smoothly. Snitz installed with this exact same configuration without a hitch. Any ideas on why I am getting a blank page with not so much as an error message?

No, theres is no reason. Try re-uploading the page, maybe it has become corrupted.

I'll upload the whole forums again and go from there. I should have noted earlier that both common.asp files were altered to correspond with the new DB Prefix. I have Snitz installed currently but I really do not like its lack of features and want to give WebWiz a shot. I abandoned WebWiz the first time I installed it because I could never get the Smileys or any of the buttons in the reply box to work and every time a page loaded it was "with errors" and that was "straight out of the box." I am going to try to get that stuff corrected this time around because I feel that WeBWiz is superior to Snitz.

The page should never load as blank.

The SQL Setup file has error handling that if anything goes wrong it lets you know what the problem is and attempts to continue with the rest of the database setup.

Even if you get a server error, it shouldn't show a blank page.

If you use IE trying disabling friendly HTTP error messages.

Actually, the page works in the AOL browser but not in IE or FireFox. I have IE set to give verbose error messages already. Part of the problem is I am installing on the IGN/GameSpy server and everything there is screwy and never works like it is supposed to. Even though the script ran fine in the AOL browser I got the following error:

Error Connecting to database on SQL Server

Check the following is set up and correct:-

SQL Server User Name
SQL Server Password
Name of the SQL Server
Database name set up by you on the server
Empty Database set up by you on the SQL Server

Check also that you have entered the correct details in the file 'SQL_server_connection.asp' found in the admin directory.

Now this is totally a BS error. Trust me. The config information is 100% flawless. Snitz is running right now on this identical config information. At any rate, you can bet that this is not a WebWiz issue but rather a GameSpy one. I'll get it worked out first then come back here to figure out why I can't get smileys or any of the buttons in my reply box to work. I almost think my internet settings may be at fault (considering that the AOL broswer seems to run everything fine and IE and Firefox cannot. Perhaps I need to check my javascript settings. Thanks.

What is an IGN/GameSpy server ?

If that's running Chillisoft / Sun ASP then that may be why?

What do you get if you do a view source on this 'blank' page?

Can't see how it can only run in an AOL browser as I testing it in IE and Firefox when I wrote it and have never used AOL.

The error means that either the details you have entered for the MS SQL Server are incorrect or the SQL server is currently down and con not be connected to.

Please also check that you have the server specifications required to run Web Wiz Forums.

http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/forum_specifications.asp?mode=forum - http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/forum_specifications.asp?mode=forum

You need to have a Windows web server running IIS and either MS Access or MS SQL Server 2000 for the database backend.
