hi! i have downloaded the script but how do i use it.

i keep getting error when testing the database connection .

is the physical location the mdb file on the server or on my pc?

if its on the server, what would the format of the physical location be.

thanks

I'm pretty sure that depends on your web host.

The drive letter that your space resides within is different with different hosts.

I use a program called dbadmin to make changes to my access database online. I had to start using this program when the database got too large for me download to make changes to it. Anyway this program tells me the path of my database including the drive letter.

Mine is something like E:\home\mysite\etc

Anyway if you're having trouble working out your database path on the server, download this app from:

http://www.stpworks.com - www.stpworks.com

and it'll tell you....

There's probably a heaps easier way of working this out but this is how I did it.... hope it helps!

Ok, something has obviously gone wrong!

Please tell me you backed your database up first???

You need to turn off the friendly HTTP messages option in the advanced section of internet options... then you'll get a specific error when you try and load the page, not just a file not found error.

I myself am having problems with the upgrade script... I've lodged a plea for help on str8dog's forum in hope that I can get it resolved!

I have just had the same problem, you need to open converted dbase and add 2 fields  into tblConfiguration

Mass_mailier
Data Type: true/false

Flash
Data Type: true/false

seems to work o.k. now (not checked everything yet though)

Think I seen someone mention this one somewhere else

I post the answer to all them problems and one more in Str8dog's forum, you'll have problems setting up the permissions for the forums too if you don't read this:

I have fixed the issue with the missing fields. a new version is avalible to download. If you read the last page of the upgrade script it instructs you to go to the admin and set everything up. Unlike the downloadable version I have not put in ANY default values other than the basic groups.

This is why polls and uploads and other things like that do not work. I plan on fixing this soon.

If you find any other issue please direct them to my site. I don't want to clutter b0rg's site with issues about my script.

Also, please remember this is a beta so there are going to be bugs and you should always have a backup of your DB.

yep guys... In an attempt to get a working SQL upgrade script.. I toasted my own site... Just playing around in the DB trying to remove indexes and constraints..

<sigh>

The sql upgrade may have to be rewritten completely..
