Hello. This is my first post in this forum. I recently installed webwiz forums on my web site and initially it seemed to work ok. I could manage it and my users could post to it. But in the last 2 weeks it has "frozen" 3 times. The last time was tonight. It is loaded on my web server and uses an ODBC driver for Access 2000 (Access 2000 itself is not loaded on the server) and I assume this is sufficient. I thought it might be a number of users problem but when it happened tonight there were only 3 active users on the site. I checked the directory where the mdb file resides and there was no ldb file there if that sheds any light. Someone please help!

it may be a dodgy database, try compacting and repairing.

is this a big forum as if it is it might be time to look at SQL server version .

when you say frozen what do you mean start getting errors or something.

Its a small database - only just started - 20 users - 15 posts. Freeze means nothing happens i.e. I cannot access it. But yet I can access the rest of my web site indicating that the problem lies in the forum and possibly the database?

If you are on a shared web server and using Access then this could be the problem, as you only usually have a pool of 20 Access DB connections shared with the entire server.

If other sites are busy and are using all the connections, or another site uses bad programming and don't release connections, you can very quickly run out of database connections which effect all sites on the server.

If you can I recommend using SQL Server from the beginning as trying to move across to SQL Server at a later date can be extreamly difficult and time consuming.
