Turn friendly error messages off in your browser and then post the exact error message.

You're getting a login page but it's not from WWF. Something in the post references a secure area of your site. The security was established by either you or your web host for either a directory or data base.

I also have a problem with post reply. I'm using email component cdosys (windows 2003). When I configure outgoing SMTP server "localhost", then post reply is working well, but email notification don't work. And when I configure SMTP server correct "mail.myweb.com" then post reply don't work, but email notification working O.K.

Sorry abaut english. Where do I have a problem? Thank's for any help.

Forget the link in my first message I will explain again here. The problem only come up when a reply is posted to one of the members.

forum_posts.asp?TID=21&PN=1&TPN=1
This is the end of the adress when I post a reply that works ok
post_message.asp?PN=1
This is the end of the adress when I post a reply that is NOT working.

post_message.asp?PN=1,
such a reply link can not work since no information about the topic ID is given.

But in the topic I already have same posts from other users, so I think that the topic ID is already given.

I think taht the problem is with the email notification, when someone reply on the topic.

Where do you get the link .......post_message.asp?PN=1 from?

post_message.asp is an 'internal' page that gets its data from another page and you should actually never see that link, also you can not access that page directly.

Did you modify your forum?

The link comes up in the IE adress field but only when I Post reply to one particular person. Replies to other forummembers is ok.

Does it happen when you post a reply to any other of his posts or just when you reply to that one?

What does that mean 'particular person'? Technically you are never replying to a person but always to a topic. Therefore it is impossible for the reply to know whom you are replying to.

Did you modify your forum? And could you provide a link?

There exists no public link like .....post_message.asp

Could you post the source code of the page where you are replying to?

I have the same problem when I create a new topic. So I think this is not a problem. I will send you link by PM.

A 'particular person' is the person who wrote the message I am posting a reply to. However when I change this person email to an adress hosted on the same server as the forum everything works ok. I use Jmail. maybe there is something wrong with the mailconfig??

But then an error with functions_send_mail.asp must have shown up in your browser.

Telling us that would have solved the problem quickly. Wink

Then you have friendly error messages turned on in your browser. Otherwise you would have gotten that error.

how often does this happen as it maybe the mal server rebooting or something.. also what mail component are you using..

if using CDONTS if possible use CDOSYS as its an upgrade from CDONTS.

also what is the error message?

Date Posted: 22 March 2005 at 2:01pm
the exact message is:

jmail.SMTPMail error '8000ffff'

The message was undeliverable. All servers failed to receive the message

/forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 226

The message appears on reply posts.

I'm using Jmail.

The strange thing is that I have 2 domains on my host and when I send email to either of these addresses ( mailto:mail@my1domain.com - mail@my1domain.com and mailto:mail@my2domain.com - mail@my2domain.com ), the message is succesfully sent.
Is that a problem of my host??Angry

The error suggest a problem with the SMTP server and for whatever reason it can not be connected to.

Also check with your host that the mail servers can relay onto non-local email addresses.

Sorry to bother once more, but this happens.
I was instructed by my host to comment the line:

.ServerAddress = strOutgoingMailServer

That thankfully made the send mass email work to all domains, but as far as sending every other kind of emails (such as reply to posts, retrieve pwd) still does not work
Please advise because I don't know where to look, is it on the forum, is it on my host?
