Can you advise when i do compact repair i get this
 
Database backed up to:-
d:\home\hnt13b249\_private\Control-backup.mdb

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e17'
Database already exists.
/Forum/admin/compact_access_db.asp, line 124
 
i lock down the forum run

Obviously the backup db alrady exists. Try deleting it memory, maybe it has become locked somehow.
