I am just curious. Does anyone have any idea how much it cost to build the web site for Amazon.com? Does anyone have any idea how many products Amazon.com actually sells?

Amazon.com is probably one of the most advanced Online Store Datacenters. If you compare it with what it was 5 years ago it went quite a way... It's more then one store as it "re-sells" for ToysRus and many many others so I would assume they effectively sell a few million products. As it's not something you can load on a shared host, you would have to put development, servers, other architecture, support staff etc into the pricing which will end up again in the millions.
