Usally if you see a URL without a file extension it is a link to a folder, then the web server picks up the default page.

If you have access to the server you can setup IIS to use different file extensions, eg. you could tell the web server to process .hhh as .asp pages.

if you are in a shared enviroment then you wont be able to do as -boRg- said and change the extentions.

even in a VPS enviromnent you may not be able to do so

you could make the site using lots of folders is one way.

also you cold have one page that is the site and use a ID value within each link thats in the querystring that gets certain details so ID=0 could be default page ID=1 could be about us page.

Any hacker who knows his stuff isn't going to be stopped by hiding page extensions.

All that happening with that URL is that you are going to a folder called 'user', the extension won't be hidden. Infact the extension is .html, but as other pages have querystrings I imagine that they have set the server up to parse .html pages as .php pages.
