I have a Web Wiz forum set up on my site and whenever a message is posted I get this message:

Sever object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3
Server.CreateObject Failed
/forum/functions/funtions_send_mail.asp line 154
800401f3

Can anyone tell me why this happens and how I can fix it?

this is a mail issue

you need to make sure you are using a email component that is on your webserver... also make sure that there was no error with the mail server as this can also produce this error.

also make sure the setting in the admin area are correct.

Jerry et al.

New to the forum, but have been using Web Wiz forum sofwtare for a computer networking course at a technical college the past year. I too justb started getting this error message. I saw you posts here and appreciate your sharing of information. However, on this last one, can you give me the specifics of how you fixed the problem? I tried a few things in the administration areas, but to no good end.

The error means that the component you are trying to use is not installed on the web server.

What you need to do, if you have admin access to the actual web server, is to get a copy of the component you are trying to use and install it dirctly on the server.

If you can not do this and you are wanting to use an email component then Windows 2000 comes installed with CDONTS and CDOSYS, and Windows XP and 2003 comes installed with CDOSYS.
