Dear Mr. Corkhill,

I’ve been working with ASP for the past 6 years quite extensively. My largest site shares functions and features over about 2500 pages. I was trained by the United States Air Force in 1995 and have been building websites ever since. So, I like to think I have a little experience from which I can make the following statement.

            You are awesome!

Over the past 4 days I have been reading your source code that came with the WWF and I keep thinking how wonderful it is. Not only the code itself, but the comments and even justification statements. (i.e. “'Set the response buffer to true as we maybe redirecting and setting a cookie” and similar little gems of insight.) Things I have always done but either have forgot why or never really knew are spelled out in your source.  I have learned or relearned things that are priceless.

I would encourage anyone (and will) who really wants to take a dive into classic ASP to download and work with one of your applications. It’s my opinion that the lessons learned are invaluable.

Oh, sure there are some things I will change in the code, but I intend to purchase the NFP dev bundle license and if I can find a suitable client to subsidize the commercial dev license I will purchase that too. Perhaps the USD will get strong enough to do so. (My intended client(s) for the NFP version are two world Christian organizations, the largest of which has more than 25 million members in all corners of the globe.)

I just felt the need to share with you and whomever may read this that this old man in the USA thinks very highly of you, the time you have invested and the care in which you have offered your programs.

My wife and I also own a travel agency and if (when) we find ourselves in your area, we would like to take you to dinner, hold our glasses high and say CHEERS to the master wizard.

Enough of that... sorry for the moment of gushiness.

Respectfully,

David

I think it is safe to assume all who have downloaded Mr Corkhill's software feel the same way. The coding and commenting is amazing.

dfrancis,

You have eloquently stated what most of us here should have already done!

-borg- aka Bruce has been a major reason why I became interested in learning ASP after looking for a message board for an EverQuest guild. His coding and commenting have allowed me to work as a full-time web developer (about 50% of my business) for the past 18 months after getting laid off for the last time. Many cheers to his code!
