Good moorning,

my name is Vito Gadaleta (Italy).

I've installed on a website a WWF forum (ver. 7.9) and i'm testing it before it goes online.

Sometimes there are some problems using letters with accent like è, à, ù and so on.

It seems like an error of my browser but i'm not sure.

WWF is running on a MS Sql Server and a IIS 5.0; the browser i'm using is IE 6.0.2900.2180

If i write letters with accent, after the submit button, the letters stored in the db are different.

For example, if i write "è", in the database is stored another letter: "c" and it happens for all the accented letters.

If i copy and paste the URL in another browser (FireFox) and i write again the same letter, all works good.

Not all browsers have the same problems. On other PC with the same configuration (win XP PRO SPII and the same IE) it works good.

I think that it happens when i change topic too mutch times with the same session (i'm the administrator) but i'm not sure about this and i'm not able to identify the exact moment.

Have you ever meet the some trouble? How do you have fixed it?

When the error is on, the value of the textbox (strMessage of the RTE) comes wrong in the post_message.asp page. I've tested it with a response.write.

Please help me.

Regards,

Vito Gadaleta

It sounds like a browser encoding problem.

Try editing the file 'includes/header.asp' and placing in a meta tag to for page encoding for whatever character set you are using.

You may need to edit the file RTE_textarea.asp to also put in the page enconding.

If that fails, it could be something to do with the setup of your SQL Server.
