Can viruses actually cause physical damage to a computer?  I mean, are there viruses out there for example that overclock your CPU to the point of burning?

Not sure about your example, but yes. Viruses can cause physical damage. Early viruses caused disk drive heads to literally crash into the plates. I imagine it would be possible to have a virus run the computer hot enough to melt, but I really don't know.
