Hi all,
I wonder if anyone else here has this problem. I have Java Runtime 1.4
on one machine and 1.5 on two others, and they load sloooowwwww.
When I access a webpage that is using Java, it can take up to a minute
and a half to load! In both IE and Firefox. In some cases, the machine
itself freezes a bit before finally loading.
I have turned off automatic updates thinking that maybe its phoning home, but that did not help.
Any ideas?

I find it pretty slow all the time. Try uninstalling it and then getting the latest version might speed things up a bit.

No luck there - still slow.
I don't remember Java being this slow, maybe computers and software are getting faster and Java is standing still?

Can you provide a link to the pages you are referring to? Could just be
some nitwit programming huge Java applets that load slow. Server
settings can also affect things.
I'm not a fan of Java, but it has uses. I'm not an advocate of Java or
ActiveX on the web. They should be used sparingly at best.

www.gotomypc.com is one, but I do surf around sometimes and every page
that loads Java is slow, so its pretty much across the board.
