I've installed PWS on my pc and put my website with ASP script in the wwwroot directory. The site uses webwiz news. However I get the following message when I select my news page -

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01b6'

Object doesn't support this property or method: 'Execute'

/html/news.asp, line 72

Any ideas what this error means? news.asp is my page in my site and I think line 72 is the <%sitenews bit%> command line from the webwiz news instructions.

Also, the webwiz instructions for PWS say that I need to put my site in wwwroot directory and point to default.asp. Does this mean I have to rename my index.html file to default.asp?

And another - what are all the vti_ folders in PWS - do i need these?

Many thanksSmile

im not to sure on the error message.

i onceused PWS and worked fine.

the vti_folders i think are some sort of back up files as i have had them before.

PWS is very old now.

I'm pretty sure these deal with the FrontPage extensions. Unless you are going to use FP, then you can delete them or leave em there.

Execute is probably refering to the ADO object, make sure you have installed the latest database engine or something, I don't really get that stuff.

IIRC, Win98/PWS was Asp 2.0
WW needs Asp 3.0
