It's happened to me, and some of my customers.

First of all every now and then the slice of code that contains stuff to do with the XMLHTTP object times out.  It seems to happen once or twice a week for small windows.  The site it's sending a request to is up and running so it's probably not that problem.

Also, when a timeout does happen, it locks all the pages on the site, EG the user can't visit another page on the domain until they restart the browser.

Any clues as to what's going on here?

Does the page you're pulling from sometimes have pop-ups?

I've also seen situations within my browsers where a page doesn't finish loading. It looks complete, but the ms flag keeps waving. Looks almost as if the eot packet got dropped.

Try using Server.XMLhttp instead of the older XMLhttp. It has a slightly different tcp stack and is optimized for server-to-server communications.
