Okay, yes, I already have a wife - and yes she's the only one for me. But I must say that as far as programming goes I am heads-over-heels for ASP.NET 2.0 and Visual Web Developer Express.
Folks, I just dragged and dropped a user account creation control onto my website and within 10 mins. had a working registration page for my latest script.
I am about to become a Microsoft evangelist in spit of myself.Clap
David.

I have to agree with you, Microsoft did a great job in 2.0 and a lot of things can be done now, with not one line of code. Some things that still bug me a little though is, that you have great documentation support with custom webparts, but if you just want to use your ascx as a webpart, there is little customization (global) that you can do. Though this is just a little pitfall, most new controls are just great.
Some month ago I did not really know what to make of generics, but now that I read up on it, did not know how you could ever have been without it.

I played with the earlier Beta and I cannot WAIT! However, since it's still in beta it's my policy not to put it into a production environment until at least 6 months after release. (Usually takes me that long to get around to it anyway.)

Like you, I am really looking forward to this. Take a look at the "master page" (?) feature. It's almost like "skinning" and it's the killer app I've been waiting for. The Visual Web Developer Express (free) is OUTSTANDING and they recently released a beta2. http://beta.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1 - http://beta.asp.net/Default.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1  There are some wonderful tutorials at the site as well.

Once it's officially released, I'll likely start developing right away.

Actually the VWD will not be free, from my understanding the MSRP is $49 which is still a good deal, though from what they said, there will be plenty of ways to get it for free like buying a MS.net book or so.
