Hi all,

I have moved data from my old forum (self  made ;-) to a webwiz forum. All seems to work fine but there is just one major problem, when i go into a forum and open a topic is says:

"Sorry, you do not have permission to reply to posts in this forum"

I red in old topics that most people will say something like: "your forum is corrupt/hacked etc". This is not the case, becourse it is caused by the import of the data from the old forum.

I compared 2 db's, one just setup with one test cat, forum and topic. and the other one with the imported data, and I can't find anything that could course the problem.

Maybe it has somthing to do with the move option? I red that there is a piece off code that checks the move option and deletes posts. I have no idea....

Is't there some trick I can do with the db to solve this problem?

Any ideas someone?? Would be great Tongue Thanx in advance...

this looks like its a permssions problem.

make sure the forum settings, group permssions, and member permssions are correct and that all users are within a group (group_ID)

also make sure they are active.

i think those are the only things that are related to that. also that its not banned ip's or email addresses.

Yeahh I know, I red about all kinds off things in old topics here.

But, I created a new forum DB. Imported categorie, forum, topic and threat tables from excisting forum. (different structure) I then looked at a example DB for comparing the tables. So I had to insert some values by the querie analyzer so the records are simular to the example DB I created for testing the original values of the webwiz forum.
Then, I logged in with admin, opend a forum, opend a topic, and got the error. When I go into the same forum and create a new Topic then the error does not occur in the newly created topic and i can post my ass off ;-)

So when I check the "Generic Forum Permissions" its all just default things like "edit, view, delete, post" are for registerd users etc. The user is not banned (admin account, also tested with a newly created account). And yes, the users have an account ID, checked it in the forum and also in the DB. The users are active. etc etc.

It's just the imported records that course problems.

Thanx for replay anyway dj air.... ;-)

Anyone else an idea?

I found my problem I think, when there are posts but the members are not yet in de DB than it will give the stated error. In the topic i tested was just one reply, when I gave the reply an author_id off 1 (admin) I could open the topic and post in it.

It's a little dumb offcource to go testing without the user table but there are more than 10000 existing users. I have made a script for importing all the users but the encription functions are pretty heavy. So that's why I tested without the users. Sorry for the trouble and my poor english.....

Thanx
