Do any other MSN Messenger users on here get this error?

I seem to always get this error now when I try to sign in, if I leave it about 10 minutes however I can sign in normally.
Is this my router crapping up or is msn really having trouble?

Some of both.
Sometimes you need to try turning off MSN and then turning it on again.
Each MSN server handles 70 million connections. If one of them crashes then it will obviously kick you off.
Because the IP of ONE MSN server is kept temporarily you can use a program called http://www.xeomax.net/index.php?p=download - MSNServersX to see which servers are alive and then update your list.
You can also try redirect ports 1863 (MSN) and 6901 (Voice) on your
router to your PC. My router is meant to support MSN passthrough but it
does not.
Also go into Tools>>Options>>Connections>>Advanced Settings
Make sure the TCP section is ticked as this will speed up MSN and reduce conectivity issues.

Thanks for that, I did an ether-real and it revealed that MSN was
trying to use a SOCKS 7 proxy on 127.0.0.1... This seemed to be
variable in uptime, so I unchecked the proxy and checked TCP instead.
