hello ,

i'm running WWF on win2003 IIS6

The problem is that every day since i installed it it stops from loading for al the night. it like freezes (the explorer trying to enter) but nothing happens.

The important thing is that the main page of the website is working properly with no problems !

When i talked to the server admin he told me that there is some problem with the scripts  of the forum itself..

i tried to install a new copy of the forum and it's also doesnt manage to load (in the time the problem occurs in the main forum)

every time after a 5-6 hours it comes back and working.

so i really dont know what to do? can someone help me?

the main  url: http://www.shririm.org/Forum_/ - http://www.shririm.org/Forum_/

the new(testing) copy is in http://www.shririm.org/proForum - http://www.shririm.org/proForum

tanks for help..

Well your site does not load at all (the forum that is). I am sure it's not the forum because it is being used successfully. So either you tinkered with the code or your host has some other issues running asp code.

today morning the server admin said that IIS stoped working and he had to reset it...and  it came back again to work well

is this problem in the server or forum configuration?

It sounds like a problem with the server rather than Web Wiz Forums.

The coding is web wiz forums is extreamly robust with all database connections and server side objects being released as soon as each file finishes using them, combined with application level variables improve performance and cut down on db calls.

Often problems like you mention with the server is a sign of an over loaded server, and often server admins say, 'It's a problem with the forum script' as an accuse. There is nothing wrong with the coding in web wiz forums!!

ok thanks.

Another question :
i tried now to transfer all the forum "folder" to a free hosting server
and saw that all the post are replaced with " ??? " and other chars.

so i cant read(in the free server) all the posts that have been posted till now.

when i installed a new copy of WWF on this free server there were no problems and posts displayed correctly.

the forum is in hebrew.

so can u tell me how can i transfer the DB correctly?

thanks again.

It sounds like a page encoding problem.

You may need to edit the header_inc.asp file and put in the page encoding that supports your character set.

I am experiencing the same symptoms described here, that is after running for a while you can no longer access the forum.  The forum is the only thing running on the machine.  The software setup is as follows: Windows Server 2003 Web Edition, all updates and patches from MS installed.  The wwf forum was moved from a Win2000 machine where it was running fine.  Using Access databases.  I do have full access to the server so I can change any settings that I need to.

Thanks for any suggestions that you might have.
-mike
