I've had a couple of occassions where a member has logged in only to find that all topics have been locked to them. There's no obvious reason for this as the member hasn't changed his account. I don't want to delete his account and ask him to re-register. He is a frequent poster and his previous posts would display as guest postings if his original account was deleted.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

In what way are they locked?

The locked symbol is showing on each forum topic.

make sure you are running the latest version.

also make sure, check if anyone with permissiions hasn't locked them.

Permissions don't seem to be a problem but admittedly it is an older version of the software. Prohibitive testing costs means upgrading is an issue.

Is this a known problem?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

what version are you using?

it shouldn't be an issue unless there was a bug in past versions.

You should make sure you are running the latest version, there is a bug in older versions that can allow a hacker to lock topics and even change the topic title, so you should upgrade ASAP before they decide to do more damage.

Also there is also a tool to bulk lock topics from the admin area, check that one of your admins hasn't used this tool to lock topics,

"a member"?  Does it happen to all members simultaneously?  Does only involve one or a small group of members?  Are other members unaffected?

"a couple of occassions"?  What has been done in the past to restore functionality on those occassions?
