Hey,

Hopefully somone can help, i have set up the forum on my localhost, and it works without fault, i have a complete mirror of the server folder structure, and when i upload the forum to the server i just server error 500, the only difference is pages that make changes to databases have to be inside the cgi-bin as this has permissions to change the database information, is there anything i need to adjust to get this working...?

any help would be much appreciated

kind regards

First solution:

You must put only the database in a folder whit read and write permission. The other pages can be in a "normal" folder.

Edit the databasepath in common.asp file and it will work.

Second solution:

You put all the forum files (with folder) in the CGI folder. In my old site it was so.

Hi Elvis,

As Pegaso said in solution 1, you can move the forum files and leave the database in your cgi-bin for the write permissions. The advantage would be a shorter URL to your forum. If you want to try this, its not too difficult at all.

Also, since your forum and database are in the public part of your web, did you follow the security recommendations in the forum documentation? If you renamed your database, I would suggest a name that is alpha-numeric and difficult to guess.
