Topic: Using RTE with journal

Hi there,

Before spending a lot of time trying/testing myself, I thought why not ask here...

I'm using the journal application as a weblog. I'm very pleased with it, it's working great Clap.

But as time passes I'm looking for some more options. Especialy the image upload option in the RTE is something I want. Not needing to FTP the image, lookup the url and then posting it would be great.

So my question is... Has anyone (succesfully) implemented the RTE with the journal appliciation, and if so, what do I have to do?

Any help would be appriciated.

Greetings,

Koen

I'm not exacly sure what you mean by a journal application but you can use the RTE with any text area as long as the pages are in ASP. Perhaps you can elaborate on the journal application.

I have integrated the RTE into Journal and am using it very successfully.

It wasn't a 5 minute mod though - just so you know. There were changes needed in several pages and you need to be fairly competent with .asp to know what you're doing. It's worth the effort though - I have to say.

Having said all that, I'm sure the next version of Journal will have RTE embedded. I just didn't want to wait.

Please will someone bring back punch cards...

Wow! A whole month goes by before a reply is posted... I guess this must be an important mod Wink

I can attempt to give you an insight into the changes necessary but my first question is - "How proficient are you in .asp"?

If you're not experienced and haven't written a fair bit of this stuff then you're not going to understand my response. Like I said, it's not a 5 minute job and there are several things that need changing...

Seriously though - Yes I am willing to explain - if you can really handle the challenge.

Your turn...

I know, but i am realy hoping for the last WWRTE and the newsapplication.
I don't know to much about ASP, so have to wait for someone who made a mod.

Sorry for the late response last time... It seems that I missed the notification of this topic. I surfed by later (don't visit this site that often), so thats the reason I didn't react earlier.
I'm glad you want to help me make the changes needed.
I'm not that experienced in asp. Unfortunatly i've never gone beyond changing existing code. But I'm up for it! I'm willing to try and to see if I understand.

Would it be possible to make a downloadable file of your journal (with an empty database ofcourse) if explaining it to me would be to difficult? I want to try changing mine first, but if all else fails would it be an option?

Thanks for the response, hope I will learn a lot from your next.

Greetings,

Koen
