I know there is relative sizing for things such as layers etc, but is there a unit that i should use to size font depending on the screen resolution/window size?

i have tried em, %, pt, px, and small/larger/etc, but none seem to work.

using ie 6sp2

I don't think there's an adaptive size according to screen res, what you have is pt, em, in and % which change according to the browser view > text size setting and screen readability tools.

To have it adapt to screen res, you may first determine the screen res with some sort of client side code, then pass that to CSS and adapt according to a pre-defined set.
