Hi there

I know it's been covered extensively, but i am nervous that the jump to the latest forum from my very outdated forum version 5.22 (MS SQL Server 7/2000 Version) may be too much.

Are there any pitfalls to be aware of, or can i simply overwrite all the .asp files in my FORUM root folder and ADMIN folder? I assume this will leave the DB untouched and it won't effect the customised look and feel i have for it (assuming i don't overwrite images).

You would have to make lots of changes to your database, there have been many, many changes since 5.22.

Overwriting the ASP files will not do it since the 5.22 database will not work with 7.92.

Where can one find documentation on upgrading without overwriting the DB? Or am i going to have to hire a .asp tekkie to tweak the database to make the changes?

you wont be able to use the existing database without modifing it.

there has been a whole version before V7, so you would have quite a few issues upgrading to V7.

if you download the latest version it has a version history which i believe covers V5
