Hi all,

Newbie here. I installed and modified the forum successfully. Everything's working fine. I then had a domain registered, forwarded it to where the forum is, with the mask URL option checked. When I try to login it gives me the "Sorry, only members with sufficient permission..." and "security error has occured with authentication" error.

My guess is with the strReferral value not being able to pick up from the masked URL. Anyone has the same problem?

For example, http://www.website.com/forum - www.website.com/forum --> works; http://www.otherwebsite.com - www.otherwebsite.com with domain masked forwarded to http://www.website.com/forum - www.website.com/forum -- NO works!

I mean, like, what the hell?

I'm not really into all 'masking' of URLs or anything but here's your best bet.

Head over to www.zoneedit.com. You can register your domain to have a free DNS server.. primary and secondary, and set it up like that, and you can even make a subdomain like forum.website.com.

You could edit the code and make the strReferral always set to masked URL. Not sure of any other solution Dead

Not sure what code you are using but in web wiz forums there is no strReferal part.

Masked URL's won't work due to the way security works with web browsers. When using URL masking many browsers get confused and can't tell which domain set the cookie, and for security reasons browsers can not read cookies set by other sites.

Thank you, Bo
You answered my question. @mack: Thank you for the resource. I'll be sure to check it out.

What I see about the forum app. I like so far. I'm in the process of localizing it and it seems to work beautifully. I think I just saw one little hick-up today: When I move a topic (or subject?) to a different forum or category, if I do not give it a new title it'll throw an error.
