the forum doesn't need to be within the cgi bin

the database MUST be within a folder with read write and modify permissioons if using Access

what version are you using?

you then go to your website and go to /forum

when you have typed forum or the destination to the folder that holds the forum you can then login as the administrator

I've created a forum folder in cgi-bin and out of it.  The problem I have is that on my index page I have a button to link me to my forum page. I just don't know which file to link it to.
You can't link to a folder only a file, and there doesn't seem to be a file or page to link it to....

I'm still lost!

I'm using version - access 2000 v7.92
I use Namo web editor to put my pages together and to upload them to my site.

Any more help would be appreciated!   Confused

ok, the main page used for the forum is default.asp

direct the link to that page and you will see the forum.

you need to make sure the database is within a folder that is not read only, it must have read, write and modify permissions.

Tried doing this but it just displays the html source on the page......

Also tried changing the read only attributes in my files and folders. I change them by unchecking the read only box, then click Apply. When I re-open the folder the read only box is checked again!

This is doing my head in now!

I'm desperate to get this forum on my website.......Ouch

Acording to netcraft your site is running on linux. This forum requires Windows hosting.

There are loads out there for Linux written in PHP, including phpBB, Invision, YaBB, etc.

phpBB's been going through a round of hacks n' cracks lately. Might be well to let it settle down a little.
