If i have session variables set up in the main window of an asp program, and then that main window opens a secondary window, will that secondary window be able to access session variables? or are sessions restricted to a single window?

session variables are good for any browser window the user opens after its set. but if they close all the browser windows (restart their browser) the session is gone.

if the parent window is closed, does the session still persist in the child window as long as it is left open?

yes. sessions are stored server side, not client side.
