I am trying to set up a forum for the first time, actually first time I have tried anything like this with asp, etc..., up til now it has been just simple html stuff. Anyway, I have everything up and running smoothly on my server using wwf with keyfocus web server and activehtml.  All of the functions of the forum seem to work except when I try to click on the register button and then click accept on the next screen instead of going to the actual registration page I get the following error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error- Error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: '[string: ""]'

C:\Program Files\KeyFocus\KFWS\htdocs\hg\aspfrm\register.asp, line 6978

I have searched and searched and cannot find a thing about it that is really useful. Most things I have found infer that it is a scripting problem but from what i see the wwf scripts are tried and tested very well.  The reference to the line number is no good due to a bug in ahtml not reporting the correct line.

Anyway, any help would be very much appreciated..

Allen

Don't know a lot about keyfocus but if I had to take a guess... the registration page uses ado stream to generate the security images. My guess would be that it's failing on ado stream. You might want to search the forum for "security images" for ways if disabling them.

Another possibility is that wwf uses application variables that are set on registration and on login but if you can login as admin that would show that it's not blowing out on the application variables.

The Lite version of wwf doesn't use security images (I think) or application variable. It's designed to be used on free hosts who don't have all IIS Services enabled so it might be a good bet for using with keyfocus.

WWF uses ASP 3.0. Make sure keyfocus supports 3.0 and not ASP 2.0.

Finally, wwf uses a fairly recent version of MDAC. You can download the latest MDAC drivers from microsoft. Installation's pretty straight forward.

Keep us posted on how things work out with keyfocus. There's been a coupl of recent threads around by people looking to use an asp webserver on XP Home Edition.

I would say that you have a corrupted file as there shouldn't be a line 6978 in the file register.asp, there is no where near that amount of lines.

Try reuploading the original file again.
