Is it possible to stop users IP addresses showing? Some users don't like this.

the ip addresses are only shown to admins and moderators you can change this by editing the forum_posts.asp file. this has been mentioned within the forum many times before |

As an Admin of a busy forum, its essential for me to have IP's on standby (just in case) what does your forum promote? why would users not like their IP showing
  just me being nosy, seems a bit odd

Given an IP, someone could launch a DOS attack or a port probe. greytricky... Nothing above the Welcome to... statement on your link page is showing up on my version of Fire Fox 1.0.7. The banner pic and menu show up ok on Opera 8.5, Netscape 8.0, and IE 6 -------------

But, the IP is only displayed if the person viewing the page is the admin or a moderator. So unless you think the admin or moderators are going to attempt to hack those IP's, what is your concern?
Like greytricky, I'm just being nosey. You said, "Some users don't [their IP addressed displayed]". Are users actually able to see the IP addresses of the other users? If so, there seems to be a flaw in the program. They should see only "IP Logged". ------------- p.s. I'm not affiliated with Web Wiz Guide in any way. But as dj air notee, the only people who can see the ip address are the admin and moderators. No other users see the ip. If you can't trust your moderators, I recall seeing something in the mods section to prvent them from viewing the ip also. -------------
