Hi all, I am currently research a tv tuner card for my laptop. Anyone have any advice on which one I should buy. I am looking for one that I can use to record some clips off my tv/video etc. Any ideas? |

I don't think there is a real disatvantage. Some may use Firewire some may use USB 2.0. Advantage is if you have USB you can sue them on both computers. You can get an OEM Kit of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, I use that to watch videos, photos listen to mp3 off my computer via my XBox (Extender) on my home stereo on big screen downstairs.
If you go to places like CompUSA they got plenty in stock. What I would do is buy a WinTV or so, if you don't like it 100%, return it and try another one. From older models there was a WinTV 5600 and 5200 (I think) and the 5200 actually worked much better on my particular PC. | Depends what aerial you have, either buy a booster aerial for your tuner card or for your tv and it might work. |

Thanks for everyones help. I have narrowed it down to a few. They are WinTV-PVR USB: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_pvrusb.html WinTV-USB2: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_usb2.html USB-Live http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_usblive.html I am not sure which is best based on tradeoff between quality and expence. Some help please? All i want it really is to record from tv/videos and maybe watch tv. |
