Any forum software puts allot of strain on the database, as it requires allot of hits on the database getting data to and from the database.

Web Wiz Forums is focused on performance and I am always looking at ways to improve performance, so as far as forum software goes, Web Wiz Forums isn't to bad.

Has your host said why the forum is using 70% resources?

It could be that everyone else using the SQL Server is only running small apps, and if you have a busy forum then yes you probably would be using more resources than the people who only have small databases on the server.

Maybe it's time then to look for a new host.

Some web hosts do not release that SQL Server is actually designed to use up a certain amount of resources if the option to "Boost" its performance is on.

This means that SQL Server will and can use anywhere from 70%-90% of the servers resources at all times. If the computer needs more memory or CPU for something else, SQL Server will reduce its usuage.

The reason for this is for database performance. If a website is getting zero visitors, then all the sudden jumps to 1000 visitors, SQL Server is ready to take that hit because its already using the resources it needs. If SQL Server is not setup to us many resources then if a website is getting a 1000 visitors at one time the website will become extremly slow because SQL Server can not keep up with the requests.

But also keep in mind there is stuff coded by beginners that do not release the memory so that also could be a problem, but this is not the cause with WebWizForums.
