Subject: Need good online retailer in England

Hi folks, just had a realy bad experience with mu usual hardware online retailer (Dabs.com) I have bought lots of stuff from them and never had a problem, now my last order was not delivered (usually 2/3 days) it is now 3 weeks since I order, and they don't have a telephone number and don't answer emails, I sent them 4 so far.
Luckily it was only a £30 order, but it could have been alot more, so I won't buy from them again.
I need to complain about this but don't know who to complaint to.
I now need to build a computer for my daughter, and need a new online retailer based in England, do you guys know a good reliable one, that has a telephone number and ALWAYS answer emails?
Their site must also be nice with lots of products, good search facility, and pictures and descriptions of all products, I'm not interested in the cheapest of the cheapest, but I value more a good online store website.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Yeah, Dabs used to be realy good, they used to have telephone number, and all, but it has been taken over by some entrepeneur woman, and she changed the whole thing, no phone number, all comunication is by email, but only from the help > mail system, (cs@dabs.com and sales@dabs.com) bounce back from the automated system telling you to use the help > mail forms, which don't work I guess, since no one answers.
So there you have it, I won't risk any more of my money or time with them, now it's time to find another good e-tailer, but this time I have to make sure it has a phone number so I can call them if there is problems.
Another matter is that I want to complaint about Dabs, I plan to get my £30 back and donate it elsewhere, where should I place my complaint?

Trading standards would be a good place to phone if they really have
flunked you. Make sure you've logged and have copies of all
correspondance attempts you have made to Dabs.

Try ebuyer.co.uk. or microdirect.co.uk they seem to be pretty cool. I
deal with both them and they always deliver on time etc for me

I'd agree with ebuyer.
Also worth giving www.scan.co.uk a look. Not had any problems with them
except their P&P charge is a bit high if you're not ordering a lot
of stuff.

ebuyer.co.uk apperas to be good, lots of products, nice web site, but it just went offline, maybe maintenance.
Novatech.co.uk is a bit unreliable, first the site was giving out errors on adding items to the cart, then, when I decided to checkout, I registered, and only then it told me the delivery options, which the soonest was in 8 days and that was at a premium price, so I just didn't order, and now requested for my registration to be deleted.
Microdirect.co.uk haven't registered yet, but the cart behaved well, they only list one of my favourite hard drives (Samsung SpinPoint) and it's out of stock, not a great deal of choice on the other components aswell.
Overclockers.co.uk is another good UK retailer, but they specialise in quality products only, so not a great deal of choice, but they are good, and deliver.
More retailers needed, and tell me about your experiences with them, delivery options and all that.
Thanks.

Have you looked at Scan?
http://www.scan.co.uk
My only gripe is the delivery charge is a bit steep.

Sorry, I don't have anything constructive to say... but...
HAHAHAHAHAHA~!
That's a marketer's wet dream!
I don't mean to laugh at you losing money - it's just that your post
basically reads like, "Hi - I'm looking for someone to give my money
to. Can you recommend anyone?" It's just SOOOOOO funny! Especially
about not wanting the cheapest!
Now - really, I totally see your point. When I want something, I don't
look for the cheapest - I look for what best suits my needs. I'd rather
spend a few extra bucks in a clean place or for some extra convenience.
But it's just... well...
I thought it was funny... I'll go away now...
Bye...
Good luck...
I hope you end up giving your money to somebody nice

When one asks where to buy X or Y goods, isn't it the same as asking where to exchange his money by some goods? Clearly don't see anything funny about that.
And NO, "I'm not looking for someone to give my money to" I'm looking for a trading place to exchange some of my bills by some hardware.
No hard-feelings taken, rest assured.

To everyone else;
I complained to Trading Standards, and they are investigating, so it may take a while.
I have still not found a good retailer, scan.co.uk seams alright, will try to order a few things from them, to see how it goes.
The problem with the missing deliveries are all down to which courier company they use, if they use Royal Mail, chances are you won't get your goods, I knew a few people who worked there, and some of the mail guys that come by the company I work for to collect the mail, we sometimes talk about how they get way by not delivering someone elses goods and they take it home for them, funny thing is is, they get away with it, Royal Mail, investigates, but gives up quickly, and the thieve is rarely caught, other people I knew worked directly at the distribution center, this guys were selling new boxed laptops at £200 a go, they must have got lots of them, imagine how many people didn't receive their brand new laptop? This is a Royal Mail problem because they don't filter how they employ. The same don't happens with other divisions like Parcel Force, City Link, and other companies.
My missing goods were "supposed to be carried" you guessed it, by Royal Mail, Dabs used to use Parcel Force, but not are using Royal Mail, bad choice, so as a piece of advice, if you are in the UK, don't buy from a retailer that will use Royal Mail to send goods to you, you might aswell pay £3/5 more, to be other courier but in the end you'll get your goods.

Absolutely. I had a very similar problem whereby I was waiting for a
digital camera to be sent to me from a company who sent it on Recorded
Delivery with Royal Mail. That was the 18th Novemebr and I am still
waiting for it... Royal Mail have "..no idea what happened to it..."

Yeah, if your camera don't arrive with 1 week or 2, someone at Royal Mail must be taking nice pictures with it.
I will now always ask for the goods to be delivered by other couriers, Royal Mail stinks.
Picture this one, the Police a few years back stopped me on the road and took my driving licence by mistake (they thought something was wrong with it, when in fact it was fine) they then appologised, and posted it to me. Guess what? Royal Mail lost it, so after a few letters, they compensated me in £35 (their max for that kind of post), and to ask for a new driving license costed me more than that.
