Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a student edition of Photoshop Cs 2 for Mac?  How much are student editions, and do you get less features?

Thanks!

Tom

Found a student edition in the Uk for a lot cheaper, but does anyone know if there are features stripped from it?  I don't want to get it if it does have stripped features.

student editions tend to be full versions... not positive about ps... the only restriction obviously is that you need to have a legitimate student id (or whatever the equiv is in UK) to legally use it, and there are, iirc, some limitations on use in regards to moneymakings... but realistically, unless you are making millions of dollars with a product created entirely with academic version software, no-one's going to bother... they like people using academic versions as students, cos they get used to the software, and then pay through the nose for full versions later... LOL

Cheers,

I got Cs2 for Mac for my girlfriend for christmas, I found out that it's the same as commercial version except as you said for moneymaking!

Hmmm... Are students not allowed to make money? Makes it a bit hard to pay for school...

Just my 2 cents for you... or would that also count as making money? Wink

lol!

Yeah as far as I know the only limitation is that it's for learning with.  Not allowed to sell anything you make on it.

But then again, who would know.  And then again, if your selling artwork on it you probably could afford the real deal.

LOL!!!

Yes most student editions are also Teacher editions, and use for educational departments. So this means that technically if they are being used in shools, then they are "making Money" because they are charging you to show you how to use it .

LOL

ok, so gull put it more accurtely than me: you're not allowed to sell somthing you make on it... and actually, if someone really wanted to find out what version of software  a file was made with, i'm pretty sure they can.. i have some vague recollection of seeing the "created by x program" while looking at the properties of a photoshop file i was working with last year... it was tagged as academic, given that i was using my school's version of ps...

Ahh I was wondering if they did anything like that.  Wouldn't be too hard to remove though.

well you can just make the image with ps and then copy the entire thing (after flattening if u used layers) to ms paint or something into a new file... not that i'm encouraging the subversion of legitimate pricing schemed by our good friends at adobe...
