Im not sure what this means exactly - but within the admin console under forum statistics, occasionally I see this..

There are currently 4 Active Users on-line, 3 Guest(s) and 1 Member(s)

Username Logged In Last Active Active OS Browser

Guest 1 Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 04:59 Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 04:59 0 Minutes Unknown Unknown
Guest 2 Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 04:59 Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 04:59 0 Minutes Unknown Unknown
Guest 3 Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 04:59 Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 04:59 0 Minutes Unknown Unknown

This data is based on users active over the past ten minutes

I mean, guests 1 through 3 had been online and showing for over 15 minutes with the information "Unknown" displayed.

Are these just hung or invalid session variables or is someone trying to "back door" my site?

Please anyone?

RJ

I wouldn't worry to much about it, it just means that in the version you are using I haven't placed any code into the browser/OS detection function to indentify the browser, or search engine bot that is currently on your forum.

Version 8 should fix this as it identifieds more bots, like the Google Adsense bot which will come to your site if you have google ads, that in the present, 7.96 or below, versions will show as 'Unkonwn'.

Version 8 not only will indentify more browsers, OS's and serach bots, but will also show their location within your forum. See the active users page at the bottom of the forum index on this site, to see this in action.

On a related topic...why do you show this info only to Admin's? Any reason not so share it with users?
