There is the permisions to Approve Posts but I can not see where you can say that a forum is required to have approved posts.

The other thing is when you select http://v8.myhanse.com/admin_forum_permissions_form.asp - Set Permissions by Forum  on the main menu you get a page can not be found.

If you turn off Friendly HTTP Error messages you should find that it is an internal server error, probably the UBound error that is already reported and happens if you don't have any forums created.

If it is a different error, then please let me know.

The post approval feature is set at permissions level when you create forums, this allows you to select which groups require their posts to be approved on a forum by forum basis.

Have turned off friendly http error message in the options and still just get a page 404.

The page cannot be found

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

The file it is looking for it: http://v8.myhanse.com/admin_forum_permissions_form.asp - admin_forum_permissions_form.asp  in the root that is not in the zip in the root and so not on my site??

Sorry you are quite right, that link does get a 404 error message as the link was supposed to have been removed as it is no-longer required.

Sorry to appear dense, but could you explain your implementation of post approval?  I have set the permission so that the moderator group approves a specific forum.  I then posted to the forum from another account but the posting just appeared without any approval.

Perhaps I am missing the logic of posting approval, so if you could bullet it for me I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks.

Check the 'Post Approval' check box for those groups you want to have their posts approved.

Forum admin and moderators will then be able to approve these posts.

Nope, I am still missing something.  Here is what I have...

I checked the "Approve Posts" box against "Moderators" for a test forum.
I created a brand new user (in the Newbie group, which has the original newbie permissions)
I posted using the new user
I logged in using another plain, vanilla user and saw the post even before logging in with an admin / moderator account.

The post appeared immediately and didn't have the same water mark or dialogue box I see on this forum.  Unfortunately because I am new to this product I am not sure how to expect this to unfold either, which puts me at a disadvantage.  Is the posting simply hidden from non-moderators until a moderator goes in and checks something?

Can you tell me what I am missing here?

Thanks!

OK, I think I need to make it more clear in the admin section on how this works.

You check the 'Approve Posts' box for those groups you want post approval for.

For example if you check it for the Newbie Group their posts will need to have approval.

The permissions Key table at the bottom of the permission's pages should explain more clearly what each permission means.

Admins and moderators can view forums they are moderators in and see topics that need approving and appove those topics.

Ahh, so it's actually a combination of group and forum and you specify a specific group is moderated for a specific forum.  Interesting twist, thanks for the clarification.

I'm trying to make it clearer for the next version, like when setting permissions I'm changing it from 'Approve Posts' to 'Post Approval', but I may change this again.

It's just that there isn't much space to fit in allot of characters.
