well, everytime we go to any website for downloading a free tool, utility, some evaluation or a shareware, we are asked to fill a small form asking for stuff like full name, address, email, phone, blah blah blah..

well i wonder how many of you really trust every website to give out such information and not fill the form with asdfg junk like i do..??> LOL

I fill things out honestly most of the time. But then I visit sites that are trustworthy and have good names. I want them to know who I am.

For stuff on the shady side... I don't need it so I don't sign up.

I also post my real name a lot. I want people to know who I am.

I usually can't be bothered and don't want to give out my email address for fear of more spam so on shareware sites I usually don't fill in the form correctly.

However, most now send you the link by email, so I often have to go back and put in a real email address.

I usually don't mind putting in my real name and email if they need to send a link but I barely ever put in address and phone# as I think it is none of their business.

We're talking as quite technically orientated people, I wonder how many of the general public actually fill out all their details?

I've got a couple of blackhole sites for bogus email addresses. I visit a lot of sites where I want to get one of their whitepapers. I give them an email address of theircompany@myblackholesite.com - the postmaster address is a catchall with a very low spam threshold. It lets me track who's sending me spam. Once every few months, I clean out the mailboxe.

Also have an msn address that I use for posting in newsgroups. It deletes any incoming mail that's not from MS.

My google auto-fill is set up for bogus address and phone number info. The only sites that need the real info are those I'm buying something from.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.
