Subject: Fear of upgrading - Although I have to. (or HELP!)

I have been using Web Wiz Forum for a couple of years, now, and my forum has 1.867 members, 206339 posts and a SQL Server DB Size of 317 MB.

When I first changed it from Access to SQL Server, I lost all my data and the users almost killed me. Cry

So... I'm using version 7.8 and I want to upgrade it to 7.97. The problem is... the forum is all customized for Portuguese language and I even redid the buttons so they would be in Portuguese.

My question is: how do this upgrade without losing all those modifications and without risking losing the data again? Are there specific files that I have to upload?

I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!

The simplest way is:-

1. Backup your present installation
2. Repleace all the ASP files (keep your modified image files)
3. The lanaguge_file_inc.asp has changed slightly, so you will need to add the extra new parts into your modified version to run with the latest version.

Many of the changes are listed in the Version History file to help you make the updates.

I'm getting errors:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e4d'

Invalid authorization specification

/forum/admin/common.asp, line 178

And also

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e4d'

Invalid authorization specification

/forum/common.asp, line 264

Ok, it's official: I'm freaking out.

I returned my backup to its original position and I got the same messages above. So my forum is offline. :(

I don't know what I did wrong. I updated all the asp files, modified the language files and that's it. I gave authorization to write/read on the directory and still... nothing.

And why the problem is happening now to the original version, the one I had made a backup of?

Please, help!

Well taking the location of where the error appears, it seems you did not update the sql_server_connection.asp file after uploading those. Make sure you filled in your server, user, password and dbname correctly
