I put off friendly HTTP errors.

When I try to upload a picture this is the result.

Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'

Server.CreateObject Failed

/Forum/functions/functions_upload.asp, line 288

800401f3

Do you know what's the problem?
Thanks!

This means that the upload component you are trying to use is not installed on the server.

Change the settings in the admin area to a component that is installed on the sever

Without an upload component installed on the server, you can not use the upload tools.

I do have a Upload component installed.
aspSmartUpload.
Still I am receiving the errormessage.
Do you have an other suggestion concerning an other Upload component?

The error means that the component is not installed or not installed correctly.

The create object fail error means that the component can not be found, so an object based on that component can not be created on the server.

I use the same. Try opening comand prompt (Run - cmd) and typing the following:

Regsvr32 c:/LocationOfComponant/aspsmartupload.dll

A box should appear saying registered correctly.

You can check with Microsoft if you like, but the error does mean the component is not regsistered on the server.

I did use REGSVR.32.exe to register aspSmartUpload.dll.
It worked oke.
I downloaded a new aspSmartUpload and installed it the way the setup.htm tell' s you to.
I copied aspSmartUploadUtil to C:\Windows\System32.
I edited the Metabase.xml as told in the setup.
Perhaps it's going wrong with the copying of the files to de C:\Inetpub\Script and C:\Inetpub\wwwroot directory.
The setup tells you to copy the aspSmartupload directory to the above mentioned dirs.
Do you have to splitt these directories your self because the way the setup is telling is a little confusing.

To be honest the installation of aspSmartUpload is awful, and if you can I would recommend using one of the other supported components.

AspUpload is one of the best upload components and comes with it's own install program, that makes regsitering the .dll automactic.

I agree. It used to work perfectly but now I don't know how to get it working again.
I will try the other one you mentiond.
Does it work with the same grafical interface as the opload from aspSmartUpload and do I have to remove all the aspSmartUpload from my server?

It will use the same interface within the forum, and you don't need to remove aspSmartUpload from the server
