I've installed the application, logged in as Admin with the "letmein" password, changed the password to my NEW password.

Everytime I try to login again, I get:

Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.
Yet, on the top, it says I'm the administrator....any ideas?

Thanks.

Could be a cookie issue, try deleting cookies in your browser and trying again.

Well,

I thought so myself, so I deleted coodies, cache, even tried different browsers (netscape, mozilla)...same problem.

Is there some special permission i have to set up on the windows server?

Thanks.

Also,

Everytime I log into the admin section, I get this license agreement page:

Web Wiz Forums License

Why do I need to agree to this every time?

It sounds like an issue with your site keeping the ASP session alive.

This maybe beceuase:-

1. An ASP file on your site uses session.abandon
2. The sites application pool keeps rcycling
3. You are using load balanced servers
4. You are using a win2003 server app pool farm
5. You are using an unpatched win2003 server (win2003 origianly had a bug when it was released and the ASP session kept being dropped)

I would still checkout the issue with the server and try and run the latest version for security reasons to protect against hackers.

I'm having the same problem. I use a webhost that has a lot to offer. The older version was working perfectly until they changed platforms and now the email features of the forum are causing the forums to crash. I tried the settings they said I need to use, but it's still crashing. I am in touch with them right now about that.

So, in the meantime, I thought I'd try and update to this newer version if the forums to see if I the email would still crash the forum.

I login as administrator, and when I press the ADMIN button, it forces me to re-log in and when I do, I get Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

I want to see if the email on the latest version will work but I can't get past this screen. I got this the first time I downloaded and installed the thing. So, I redownloaded it and re-installed it.  Still getting that message.

Im having same problems as original poster of this thread (webwiznewbie). i guess ill ask my host company to look into the suggestions that Borg mentioned.

I emailed my hosting company with the 5 suggestions that borg mentioned earlier in this post and they replied..

none of these suggestions seem to fit the configuration in
our environment, and I know that other sites on the same
server are successfully using asp session variables etc.

-I might have to abandon webwiz and go with Snitz forums,
when is 8.2 going to be released? its almost the end of the
month i want to try that on my website

----------------
Hey Borg when you say "An ASP file on your site uses
session.abandon"
could it possibly be a separate asp application that i
have installed and one of those asp files may contain the
session.abandon? or does 2 different apps have no effect of
one another??

yes it could be any file within the same domain. or a file thats read when created.

who is the host?. most hosts can set you within your own pool etc

The session variables last for the life of your browser session - regardless of what/how many applications you run from the browser. Logout scripts, chat scripts. etc. often use session.abandon

I found this little "treasure" in another topic which WORKED.

Quote It sounds like the server is not able to hold the ASP Session.
If you can not fix the server issue, then you can tell web wiz forums to use the database instead to store the session.
You need to edit the file 'functions/functions_session_data.asp' to enable this using notepad.

My webhost made my own pool thingie for the main directory where I had the "test forum" but when I put the forums in another directory, the forums gave me the same errors...after tedious searching, I finally found that little gem which cured all my problems.

Using the DB to store session info is only available with V8 forums. The OP had a V7.x forum. The thread was from before V8 was released though, so perhaps they've upgraded.
