Use VMware or download the free version of Oracle 10.2 lite that is free and runs on Windows.

Also please don't bump posts too soon!

Make sure you have the windows version as well. IIRC, you'd need XP Pro, not XP Home.

My wifes laptop came with Win Media Edition 2004 which was built around XP Pro. Upgraded to Media Edition 2005 and found it was built around XP home - no IIS. Had to re-install the 2004 version so she could do web demos.

Media center sucks.. XP Pro + encoding apps = more flexible plattform..

I don't mind Media Center. It's quite nice actually. When you have MC 2004 you can upgrade to 2005 and keep the Pro components.

wait... mc2004 is based on xp, but they *downgraded* for mc2005?Geek

Yeah, MC2004 is XP Pro, MC2005 is XP Home. The upgrade hosed some iis prerequisites so had to reinstall it from the MC2004 disks.

we *always* do that...

anyways, back to the topic at hand... lol

that whole price difference thing between xp pro and home is bs. they're exactly the same os, and until about a year ago you could buy a copy of home, hack a few lines, and voila, you had xp pro... its exactly the same freakin product. Home just has the lights switched off and the switch hidden inside a steel cube...
