You can run your own Google Ads once you apply an ad/link removal license key to the application.

Will it be as simple as adding our own AdSense account number?  It would be nice if all we had to do was fill in a field somewhere, or change it in one file, and it would propogate throughout the forum on all the Google Ads.  That way we only have to modify the Google Ad code you already included if we wanted to change the colors or size.

Perhaps you could make it so we could change it in the language file.  If we purchased a license key, it would use that AdSense account, if we haven't it will ignore that field and use yours.

Also, I like the ad underneath the first post.  I was hoping to implement that in my forums and I am glad you already did in version 8 so I don't have to.

I hope it will be easy, as a license-holder, to insert my own AdSense account number.

At the present time the plan is to drop the Google Ads for the final version and replace the Google Ads with Ads Severed by Web Wiz Guide.

The reason for this is that I don't want to be relying on Google's Ad system, as if they decided, for whatever reason, to shut Web Wiz Guide's account, then this would mean that this source of revenue would finsh.

Also, by having our own ad system it will allow more control over the ads and being able to tailor the ad system to our needs.

But your idea has got me thinking, it maybe an idea, once it is up and running, to introduce a system whereby those who purchase license keys who want to keep the ads could get some revenue from the ads, or have them swap over to use their own Google Ads.

Down the road (not now) it would be nice if there were a banner ad / advertising system that integrated into the forum where people could charge members for ads.

Right now I too reply too much on Google Ads.  While I have no intention of getting rid of them, as they pay welll and are consistent, I do have inquiries for advertising directly on my website.  Currently I have no automated way for members to purchase and maintain their own ad accounts and have to deal with all advertisers manually.  I'd like to automate this so there is less intervention on my part.

Also, depending on how you build the ad management system, you can actually serve Google Ads simply by serving the Google Ads code as html.  That way you can rotate banners and any html based ad.  This is a technique many ad management scripts utilize.

I've already altered the Google Ads, so that if no Google Ads is available it will display one of my own ads instead.

But this is useful to know and something to keep in mind while building the system.

I did a quick search, but didn't find anything. I haven't searched through the code to answer this question, so perhaps someone here can...

Is there an easy way to reactivate the banner code so that I can use my Google Ad account by simply changing the specifics?

Might as well not reinvent the wheel.

-boRg-?? Is this allowed?

Regards.

Web Wiz Forums doesn't use Google Ads, it uses it's own ad system.

You can however, place your own Google Ads in the forum by editing the files.

I know initially it used Google, but I guess what I was getting at was a request for the code that enabled those ads to display so that I can enable them again since the license code disabled them from rendering.

So, in a nutshell, I'll see what I can do/find concerning displaying google ads again. [I would rather keep your code in place as much as possible so that future developments don't break sites.]

Thanks

Can we just set the necessary google code in the header.asp file without too much trouble?

Yes, the simplest way is to add your own Google ad's to the system by placing th Google ads in the header.asp and the footer.asp files.

Following on from this, if you'd like Google Ads under the first post of each topic, try this solution;

How would you suggest we do that - edit the ads_inc.asp?  If so can we get a little details as to how you suggest we do that.
