Hi, I'm not sure if this was appropriate place for this but there was no one else to contact as the particular forum does not have an email contact address.

I recently registered on allempires forum ( http://www.allempires.com/forum/ - http://www.allempires.com/forum/ )
but every time I try to login it says successful but yet it has not logged in. I re-registered under another identity but still same problem.

(Also, I try to view some topics but comes up with error: internet explorer must close.)

Sounds like your browser has cookie issues.

IE is renowned for having cookie issues, the simplest suggestion is to use a better, less buggy browser, like http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ - Firefox and see if that solves your issue.

Thanks for your reply. Well, I went and got Firefox and then tried again but still same problem. (Will I have to re-register with them? problem is no other email address other than 2 already used in 1st 2 registerations. Do you know if allempires.com have a support email contact address as I could not find one?)

I am having a similar problem but when ANYONE tries to login the page just loops you inside the security code verification screen and wont go any further. I have been able to register under another ID and get in that way but I cant access the admin section. Any ideas or suggestions? Stern Smile

Hi again. Still having same problems I have been able to sucessfully login once or twice but almost every time can not. (I wonder if it has something to do with anti-spyware/adaware?) I sent allempies.com 2 emails but no reply (yet).

(I have no idea about the problem you mentioned knightwolf38 but then I'm not administrator of a webwiz forum. I'd say try going into & exploring each of the things (is the word 'links'?) on the home page?)

It could be some software running on your machine that is preventing cookies from running correctly.

Try disabling various software on your PC to try and find the issue, also make sure your browser is set to accept cookies for the site.

Well it could be my libronix/logos bible software but what do I do about it I can't un-install it as I need to use it some times.
For a while it was automatically loging in but after used libronix I can't again now. How come I can login to here but not there?

I set my settings/options so that it asks me if I want to allow cookies and it does it with all other sites visited but not ancient empires!

Which software in the list of programs could it be clashing with ancientempires forum (last time I tired removing some/disk clean up with out knowing fully what I was doing I mucked up windows and had to restore to earlier date): adaware, avg, citrix, dial up script tool, digital line detect, modem, power management driver, intel extreme graphics, isp setup, libronix digital library system, ms net framework, anti-spyware, global ime for Chinese, firefox, msn, msn messenger, msn toolbar, open office, soundmax, windows backup utility, windows installer, windows support tools, wmi odbc driver, updates.

(Would not down loading updates (to save space until know what else to do) be making any difference?)

This forum is running version 8 beta 2 which is currently being tested and has a new cookie-less login system.

You don't need to un-install software to find the issue, just try disabling and re-enabling various options in add-blocking, Internet security, firewall, and AV software, to see if any of those fix the issue.

Sorry that this has gone on so long.
I tried what you said but nothing has worked. (Check: AV was AVG?, add-blocking was adaware?)
I am not having problem with any other forums etc only that one. (Is there another webwiz forum I can try to see if it also happens with that one or just with ancientempires?) I've sent AE emails but no reply.

www.allempires.com is a forum I admin - we've had many people bring up issues about login and I pretty much have no clue what's going on. We usually tell people to clear cookies but that doesn't always work.

It doesn't seem like it has anything to do with browsers, although it seems like more people complain about firefox not working than with IE.

Sean, very sorry for not responding to your emails. I've been very busy recently with work. But to be honest, I don't have many solutions. (It's strange we meet on this forum) :)

It came right again for no apparent reason and is okay at moment, hopefully it will stay that way!

Nope lost login again for no apparent reason. Same problem, doesn't automatically (stay) logged in (I never log out) and when I try to login says successful login but has not logged in.

(Thanks for reply Imperator I didn't notice it before.) I can not try Internet Explorer again because I lost it when fidling with settings/options trying to fix login problem, it says page can not be displayed and I can't remember all changes I made or which of all of them it could be though I guess I can try reset to defaults and then re customise it all again.

Okay, on firefox I can view but not login except rare occassions. On internet explorer (managed to get it back) I can login so far but not view topics it says has to close send error report.
----
Update: last few times (after few login trys) been able to login on IE and sometimes on Firefox. If it stays working then to let other people know: I think I have worked out that I just have to keep changing tactics all the time (firefox & IE, 2 versions of address, clear cache and cookies). But it still leaves problem that I can't view topics on IE.
