That's because it's on the .com domain and not the .info one.  And also when you login, the password stored in the DB changes I beleive, which means you logout of the .info domain.  Very annoying!

Really borg should use a 301 otherwise the site gets a lower rank (meaning lower rank, meaning lower visitors, meaning lower profit) because of duplicate content.

webwiz.net was the original domain before the .info domains existed.

It's just been left in for legacy, and because allot of sites linked to it, or at least they use to.

The problem with getting rid of it is that allot of people still uses it.

Do you know of any ways to gracefully redirect users using the .com over to the .info site?

When a user posts an internal link, you could detect it's internal and link internally as supposed to a full external URL.

You can use the global.asa file of your site to do a redirect based on the 1st Level Domain Name. I am doing this on my global.asax's .net Site so I am sure you can do the same in asp.

Wouldn't it just be easier to put a message onto the .COM address informing people to use .info instead. and providing a link..

can a redirection do this job?

get the QueryString on the .com domain, and redirect it to the .info domain, in this case if someone clicked on a link on the .com, he will directly go to the link but on the .info

Thanks Guys I will certainly look into as soon as I have time.

I planning on completely redesigning this site this summer and use ASP.NET so may look at making the change them.

I want to make the site simpler to navigate, and create more FAQ style sections to help with support and have more articles and move the software to a more products based section.

This way the site will separate into two parts, but as I want to keep with the roots of this site to give info to web developers I want to update the existing articles, reviews and tutorials .

Allot of the articles in the site are getting quite old, so I want to make the site more of a database driven site and because I simply don't have allot of time I'm going to ask users to submit there own articles and reviews to the site (maybe run competitions to encourage people).

All this will take time, which I don't have allot of what with around 70 to 80 hours a week answering support questions, writing new software, and general admin, so I may look at taking on a web designer/admin person part time to work in the office with me.

Anyway, expect allot of new things for Web Wiz Guide this year Big smile

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which will also transfer pagerankings etc.

No idea how to do it with IIS but in apache I just have a mod redirect line.

On my site for example there is a 301 from www.huw.org.uk to huw.org.uk
