Subject: Admin permissions error.

I am currently reviewing this package for possible use on my site http://www.gamefishin.com - www.gamefishin.com

I have downloaded and installed the beta 7 files on my test server.  Everything seems to be ok, however I am getting admin permission errors when I login to the admin page.  I am able to login as administrator using the default id and pw.  It looks ok until I click on some of the admin links, then I get a access denied errror message.  I am able to run several of the admin tools.

Any help is greatly appreciated

access denied and? Get the complete message with Friendly errors turned off in IE> I suspect your db does not have write access.

Here is a screen capture of the error.

The error looks like its being displayed by the insufficient_permission.asp file.

It seems that if it were a database write/access issue then I would not be able to change/modify/run some of the other admin tools listed?  But I can run/edit/modify  "User Groups" successfully.  Also as you can see in the screen capture that I posted I am logged in as administrator.

What about your cookies?

Are you using some kind of redirect?

As I recall, an earlier version of the beta had some Admin permission problems with some options. Make sure you are using the latest beta which is v7 beta 4.

Could this be the problem?

Definatly not a cookies issue and I am not using a redirect.

Here is the zip file name that I downloaded.  web_wiz_forums_access2000_v7_beta4.zip

I think it is some kind of db issue.  I have gone over the setup 100 times, double checked everything.  I had no problem setting up v6 but v6 does not have the features that I need.

I really like this forum, so I'm hoping to get this issue resolved.  I've reviewed a lot of different boards and so far I have my focus set on this one.  Are there any working beta 7 boards out there that I can take a look at?

Which links from the admin area do you get the access denied error on?

Here are the links with the error.

Admin Menu
Forum Admin
Change Admin Username and Password
Forum Configuration
Forum Date and Time Settings
Email Notification Setup
Anti-Spam Configuration
Configure the Bad Word Filter
Remove Powered By links

All the other ones seem to work or at least run with out getting the admin error.

There should be no reason for the page to redirct to the insufficient permisions page for these pages as the test for being allowd is carried out in the common.asp include file that is used throughout the section, the only way you can losse access to some pages is if cookies are not being crrectly set and read.

IE does have many issues with cookies, try deleting all temporary internet files, then delete your cookie cache, this should reset IE's cookie index and hopefully prevent the problem.

Also try another web browser and see if the problem persists.

I think you must have the wrong site as there is no chat room software available from this site.
